Trustee Chair

Azetta Harper Bey first attended Wesley in 1988 after moving here from Austin, Texas. Her sons discovered they each had a friend who attended Wesley, so that ended her search for a church. Though it was a while before she joined Wesley, Mrs. Shirley White and Mrs. Janice Williams found work for her to do.

Through the years, Azetta worked on the Higher Education Committee, the Children’s Ministry, as a Sunday School instructor and with the Trustee Board. Mrs. White  invited Azetta to work with the sewing circle which rekindled her desire to start quilting.

Azetta began sewing when she was young and attended Tuskegee Institute as a Clothing and Related Arts major. In later years, Azetta found herself in the School of Education where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and two sons later earned a Master’s degree. Azetta’s teaching career began in Tuskegee at St. Joseph Catholic school with second graders and then in Austin, Texas at the Austin Unified School District and the Murphy School District in Phoenix until she retired.
